Timothy Scharold, M.D., graduated from Wright State University School of Medicine in 1987 and completed his residency in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH in 1990. He is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. He had a successful solo medical practice in Cincinnati, OH before coming to Hilton Head Island in 2003. He is committed to giving his patients the quality care they deserve by practicing medicine in the most personal, accessible and cost effective way possible.
Dr Scharold is board certified internist and geriatrician: As an internist, he has a great interest in encouraging healthy behavior and as a geriatrician will help you through the aging process to keep you as healthy as possible.
Internists are equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings—no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. They are specially trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems and can handle severe chronic illnesses and situations where several different illnesses may strike at the same time. In today's complex medical environment, internists take pride in caring for their patients for life.
Geriatrics is an area of medicine dealing with elderly patients. Geriatricians work to promote the health of the elderly, to prevent and treat diseases they may encounter, and to minimize medications and their side effects. As a geriatrician I have a great interest in encouraging healthy behavior and in helping you avoid what ages you.
On one of your first visits, I recommend that you undergo a complete history and physical examination. This enables me to obtain important baseline data for future reference. I hope to prevent or detect health problems early by reducing risk factors and using screening tests during times of good health.
I also am well trained in the new medicare recommended Cognitive Assessment. This involves a complete memory assessment and feedback on what to do for your memory. I recommend this through medical assessment for any loved one that may be struggling or concerned with their memory. It is provided in a personalized non threatening manor.
