Here is an excerpt of my recent talk on limiting brain aging :

Diet: this one thing you do have control over.
You have a choice of what you put in your mouth.
What you eat will affect your brain: good or bad
 Avoid the bad:
Bad fats: saturated fats: red meats, fried food, fast food, junk food,                                                         chips, cheeses, desserts and pastries
Research shows statins may help reduce dementia
    Bad carbs: sugar and starch
Enjoy the good:
Good fats:       Unsaturated fats: omega 3 fatty acids,
Fish, fish oil, olive oil, nuts
Good carbs: Fruits and vegetables: fill up, cant get too much.
